Magnesia-chrome bricks are a type of high-grade refractory material primarily composed of magnesium oxide (MgO) and chromium trioxide (Cr₂O₃), with periclase and spinel as its main mineral components. After more than half a century of development, magnesia-chrome bricks, thanks to their superior comprehensive performance, have become an indispensable key material in high-temperature industrial applications.

Key Performance Characteristics

Ultra-High Refractoriness: Magnesia-chrome bricks boast a refractoriness exceeding 1700℃ and a load softening temperature typically surpassing 1600℃, maintaining structural stability even in extreme high-temperature environments, resisting softening or melting.

Excellent Erosion Resistance: Due to the strong alkalinity of MgO and the chemical inertness of Cr₂O₃, magnesia-chrome bricks exhibit exceptional resistance to alkaline slags and some acidic media. Their erosion resistance is particularly outstanding in oxidizing atmospheres, significantly extending furnace lining service life.

Excellent Thermal Shock Resistance: Compared to pure magnesia refractories, the addition of Cr₂O₃ effectively improves the material's coefficient of thermal expansion and toughness, giving magnesia-chrome bricks greater resistance to cracking and spalling during rapid temperature changes, reducing damage caused by thermal shock.

High Strength and Wear Resistance: Under high-temperature conditions, magnesia-chrome bricks maintain high mechanical strength, capable of withstanding high-temperature pressure and impact. Simultaneously, their excellent wear resistance withstands long-term friction from molten metal and slag within the furnace.

Good chemical stability: Magnesia-chrome bricks have good resistance to corrosion from a variety of metals and gases, and are especially suitable for parts that come into direct contact with molten metal or high-temperature gases.
